Bolton To UN Ambassador
"This post is too important to leave vacant any longer, especially during a war and a vital debate about UN reform. So today I've used my constitutional authority to appoint John Bolton to serve as America's ambassador to the United Nations."
-President Bush

Now, before I even begin to discuss this issue I want to make it perfectly clear that I don’t want to see any recess appointment bashing from the left. Clinton made about 140 recess appointments, and the left said nothing. Let me help you understand this situation, because the reaction the left has had because of this nomination shows their true colors. The truth is, the UN needs to be drastically reformed. The left of course doesn’t realize this and continues to make demands that our government blindly act at the request of this corrupt organization. In the minds of liberals, criticizing the UN is unheard of. They will not allow it. They haven’t allowed it. Every time a republican does it, they’re attacked on some wacky left wing blog. So the President has made a recess appointment. Its not like Bolton wouldn’t have been nominated anyway, but why wait? In a time of terror, we need someone in the UN who will not allow it to walk all over the American Ambassador. John Bolton is the perfect man for the job. The left has ignored Clinton’s radical nominations because the nominations supported their cause of ignoring corruption and aiding the enemy.

I think it's less of the left doesn't realize the UN needs to be reformed, more of they agree with it more as the USA is one of the most conservitive free nations. The UN is closer to agreeing with them, so they don't see it as quite as bad. And the ones that do want to see it be reformed don't want Bush to be the one to do it. People from both parties try to keep good things from happening if the credit will go to the opposite party.
I love it.
For your last three posts.....
1.) Frist is a yoyo.
2.) Coulter is right,but,as you say,let's hope she's wrong.
3.) Bolton......right on!
The reason the left can't admit the UN needs reform is that admitting that means admitting they were wrong about all sorts of things.
agreed
why wait? its called checks and balances, and bush has shot himself in the foot. as soon as bolton faces the legislative branch for proper approval, bush will have jepordized any of the moderate republicans previously guarenteed to approve. if theres one thing politicians hate its encroachment onto what they deem their turf.
It does not even matter if anyone wants to criticize President Bush on the Bolton nomination. He is doing what is guranteed he could do by the United States Constitution. Liberals or Conservatives have nothing right now because he has the right to fill any vacany during a time of recess. It's in the Constitution, and I have not yet heard anyone, left or right, condemn the President for appointing him.
I don't give a damn if it did hurt the senators' feelings. People doing their jobs frequently causes feelings to be hurt.

And you just proved Morrison's point that liberals completely ignore Clintons 140 recess appointments -- 140!! That's 140 times as many as Bush, so if Bush is bad for doing a recess appointment (which he is allowed to do by our laws) then Clinton is 140 times as bad as Bush.
well... it makes sense to me.
Shot himself in the foot? Constitutionally he didn't encroach on anything.
