Marisa From California
Shouldn’t We All Be Optimistic Like Marisa?
"I lost my husband of almost nine years, too, to this war. It wasn't by death but by circumstance (he didn't come back the same and didn't want his family any longer). Our family is gone. Do I blame the government? No. Do you see me out there along with all the other women who lost their families either by death or circumstance? No. It was still a choice made. My ex wanted to be in the military."
"Every month when I get my small paycheck because I have no education or experience because I thought he would take care of me makes me realize what I lost. To hear that woman (Cindy Sheehan) out there, makes me feel like the death of soldiers and the death of families was all in vain. There is a way to go about things. Her way is the wrong way!"
This is the difference between the left and the right, The left feeds on hatred, anger and distrust. They do not posses the ability to be optimistic when it comes to this country. Marisa from California is an American who does posses that ability. She didn’t the point at the President when her husband left, she didn’t make radical statements and analogies just because her husband left. This is the difference, this is what separates Americans. We should all be optimistic like Marisa. You liberals wake up everyday with hatred in your soul, you liberals wake up everyday searching for new ways to spew your hateful rhetoric towards this administration.

This is the difference. You will lose the ones you love, that’s life, it has happened to many of us. That does not justify you calling this President "a terrorist". That does not justify you making analogies that label this President a murderer. When did you get this idea that you are the only ones who lose the ones you love? When did you get this idea that because you’ve lost someone you loved, that Americans would not go out of their way to defend this war effort and our troops? When did you get this idea that everyone else should be hateful just like you? This is what the left does. They are so pessimistic about this country and war effort, that they try to pull people like Marisa from California down with them. They look at the already left slanted media and pull certain things out to justify their kooky claims. They have no faith in this country, they have no faith in our troops, how else can you explain the love affair with this Sheehan woman? How else can you explain their total disregard of the corruption of the UN and Saddam Hussein? Instead of pointing out the corruption in those places, they ignore it, and point to this administration and FEMA instead. Its ridiculous. The level of ignorance and total disregard of logic one must posses to align themselves with the liberal base of this country, is absolutely mind boggling!
Morrison
Delay Indicted!
WASHINGTON (AP) - "House Majority Leader Tom DeLay was indicted by a Texas grand jury Wednesday on a charge of conspiring to violate political fundraising laws, forcing him to temporarily step aside from his GOP post. He is the highest-ranking member of Congress to face criminal prosecution."
"A defiant DeLay said he had done nothing wrong and denounced the Democratic prosecutor who pursued the case as a "partisan fanatic." He said, "This is one of the weakest, most baseless indictments in American history. It's a sham.'"
Unfortunately, this is what it is. Regardless of the outcome, the libs will go nuts, they will make premature and unjust claims. Of course, if Delay has committed a crime, he should pay the price.

The left wake up with hatred in there souls do they, they peace protesters, the CND, the people protest on behalf of the poor and the staving, the people who protest against the development and sale of weapons wake up with hatred in their souls do they?
I think VCG is still working on English as a second language. Delay may think it is the weakest sham of an indictment in American history, but I know of weaker ones. It's really wrong how people can use the law to forward their agendas or attack with malice those that some esteem as enemies. It happens.
When did "the left" decide all of these things? I must have missed the leftist convention where We decided to make the official policy of The Left. I must have been killing babies and performing gay marriages that weekend.
Generalization is idiotic.
I am sorry Mikey but no... you are trying to take two individuals and make them symbols for the left and right... you are attempting to prove that the left wakes up with hatred in their veins and blames America for everything while the right does not such thing... you are just wrong... Not only are your examples not representative, you have made arguments that can not be backed up... your quote: "The left feeds on hatred, anger and distrust." can be said about you and the right... actually most of your quips/accusations could be swung to face the right including your love/hate affair with Sheehan... you have actually written more about her than most of the full blown "kooky libs" and have shown nothing but hatred, anger and distrust...
As far as DeLay, is it any surprise that he was indicted? He has been walking on the thin line of ethical violations for some time... this is not the only case that has his name associated with it as the Abramoff saga continues... add in a dash of Grover Norquist and David Safavian... and you have a wonderful salad of questionable activities... am I saying that they are all guilty or any of them are guilty? No, that is for a court to decide... am I saying that they are the only ones who seem to forget about the law and ethics in DC? No... but the associations each of them have with groups and figures that cross the line makes it easy to point out the potential problems coming up...
Yorel... I agree that it is shame that people do try to use the law to get even with political opponents but since this has been part of our political heritage since the beginning, it is hard to just point at this as if it is the first time it may have happened...
1) I'm not too fond of Delay, so whether the charges are legit or not -- fuck him.
2)"your quote: "The left feeds on hatred, anger and distrust." can be said about you and the right."
Well, (remember folks, this is a GENERAL GROUP thing here -- of course there will be exceptions) I cannot think of an example in recent history where the 'right' try to breed anger / resentment / whatever towards a group. I'm well aware you'll say "what about Muslims"? The thing is, the 'right' as a group has never been against Muslims -- only terrorists, and as we all know -- not all terrorists are Muslims and not all Muslims are terrorists. On the other hand, you constantly see prominent liberals condemning people for being successful in life -- like when they bash Bill Gates. He started out in a garage and worked his ass off to make an impressively succesful company and became the richest man in the world in the process. Bill gives away millions upon millions every year to all sorts of different things (he gave my high school $4 million to help in designing a better curriculum). Yet, you constantly hear that he's "evil" because he's rich. How about all the "evil white" people out there that the news loves to go on about? I find it very interesting that when racism is finally a neglegent factor, there are those of the liberal persuasion who have to try to make it one. How about the fact that during the election there were lies about Bush wanting to re-instate the draft (which Bush repeatedly said he wouldn't do), when in fact it was Jack Murtha, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, that had proposed a bill to re-instate the draft -- needless to say, the bill was shot down.
So, to sum up: While there are exceptions of course, the overall 'group mentality' of liberals tends to go with using hate / fear / distrust to try to win votes.
wow... did you miss the last election? Actually have you missed every election since 1988? The mantra of the GOP has been either "guns, God and gays" or "guns, God and fear..." maybe these are exceptions too? The GOP pamphlets in W. Virigina with a male hand putting a wedding ring on another male hand with a big circle and a line through it? Or the similar campaign that showed a Bible burning with the circle and bar through it? Does Willie Horton ring a bell? The continued pushing of the mythical culture war... What about the false claims by the Swift Boat vets? What about using Michael Moore and Cindy Sheehan as the rule and not the exceptions? What about the hate towards Bill Clinton, still... Now you want to defend the Muslims after so many people on the right have made the comment towards racial profiling and even opening up camps while using the "not every Muslim is a terrorist but every terrorist is a Muslim" rhetoric... the hatred towards Hollywood... using words from Coulter, O'Reilly, Hannity, Savage, etc... anti-war people are helping the terrorists... there are plenty of examples and these are not the exceptions as you well know...
Come on... don't even attempt this since you have nothing to hold on to with it...
I am a big believer in not using the race card and you say that the liberals try to make it an issue... it is hard not to if prominent supporters of the GOP continue to make comments like "take the bone out of your nose" or Bill Bennett's comment today "But I do know that it's true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could -- if that were sole purpose, you could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down. That would be an impossible, ridiculous, and morally reprehensible thing to do, but your crime rate would go down."
1) Being against gay marriage is an issue of religion, and has jack shit to do with disliking homosexuals
2) Same goes for the Bible burning thing
3) Never heard of Willie Horton before -- I'll look him up later
4) If you can't see a cultural war, then you're blind
5) I think that people who served with Kerry would know a hell of a lot better than me or you what kind of a person he was during the war
6) Clinton committed perjury and was let off -- I'd love to see you have an easy time letting go if Bush did the same
7) When people in Hollywood get their heads out of their asses and learn something about the world, then we'll talk about that one again
8) I've yet to ever see a group of people "worshiping" (for lack of a better word) Coulter, Savage, etc. in public / en mass
9) Anti-war people helping terrorists........depends on what they do. If they merely dislike the war and think we should leave, then no. When they are blatantly trying to make it impossible to punish terrorists, then yes, they are helping them (hell, Gitmo is several times more luxurious than any college campus in this country these days)
10) As for Bill Bennett's comment -- it's true. Look at criminal records, statistics, etc -- unfortunately the liberals telling blacks that they're "wronged" and are owed something combined with their mentality that no one should be punished for their actions has led to an overly large amount of crimes being comitted by blacks. Even the liberals beloved Jesse Jackson was qouted as saying that if he hears footsteps behind him at night in a city and he turns around and see it's a white person he's relieved. Hell, I'd love it if the majority of crimes were comitted by whites or any non-black group -- then liberals would lose about half their stuff to talk about come election time. Also, Bennett said in his comment that it would be wrong to kill black babies, so I don't see how you can construe that as him disliking blacks.
First few.... eh... I'll leave 'em for now.
I think that people who served with Kerry would know a hell of a lot better than me or you what kind of a person he was during the war
Which is why the people who ACTUALLY served with Kerry condemned the Swifties, of which none of whom served with Kerry. Of course the loophole for most of them was that they served in Vietnam at the same time as Kerry...
Clinton committed perjury and was let off -- I'd love to see you have an easy time letting go if Bush did the same
I would say that questions about one's sex life shouldn't be asked, be a person Republican or Democrat.
When people in Hollywood get their heads out of their asses and learn something about the world, then we'll talk about that one again
Does this apply also to those in Hollywood who are Republicans who speak out in favour of Bush and the war? Incidently, so far Republicans have had an actor as President, an action star as a governor, that guy who's on "Law and Order" as a senator, and Sonny Bono as a congressman. Correct me if I'm wrong, but so far the Democrats have managed to get Cooter elected to a term or two in congress before being taken out by Newt.
I've yet to ever see a group of people "worshiping" (for lack of a better word) Coulter, Savage, etc. in public / en mass
Does, "mega dittos" ring any bells?
Anti-war people helping terrorists........depends on what they do. If they merely dislike the war and think we should leave, then no. How? By saying that the United States should live up to its international committments and act according to international laws and their own laws concerning prisoners? Slippery slope my young friend.
As for Bill Bennett's comment -- it's true. Well I'll turn around and ask you how Bennett's comments helped? Rather, don't you think it might be more useful to come up with constructive solutions to the problems of crime?
1) playing on fear that if Democrats win, gay marriage would be legal
2) playing on the fear that Democrats want to destroy the Bible
3) Yes, read about Willie Horton... 1988 election...
4) the culture war is a joke... you might believe it and all power to you but I just see it as another in a long line of generational gaps...
5) You missed something about the swift boat guys, most of their claims were false proven as much by Naval Department records... plus, these were not guys who served with Kerry but served in the Swift Boat groups... those who served with him had praise...
6) Outside of the fact you are zeroing in on only aspect of the attack on Clinton, you must forget that for 8 years while as president and now that times are tough, people have said numerous things about him... I keep bringing this up but the day after the election in 1992, there were bumperstickers that said "Don't Blame Me, I Voted For Bush" and so on... this is hatred towards a person... and I don't even want to bring up some of the worthless investigations that had no point being in the spotlight other than partisanship...
7) thank you for proving my point... the pushing of hatred against Hollywood (along with the ACLU and liberals in general) has been calling card for conservatives for a number of years...
8) You have to be kidding me... please say you are kidding me that you do not see people repeating of quotes from those people...
9) You know what I am talking about when I mentioned the anti-war helping terrorism... "it emboldens the enemy" and so on... as far as Gitmo being better than any college campus in this country... methinks you are full of hyperbole...
10) While Bennett said was wrong, he still stated it as a fact that by killing all the black babies you were in fact lowering the crime rate... if you can not see racism in this then you must not be able to see racism in someone saying that if you killed off the all Jews then the banks and media would run better...
"I would say that questions about one's sex life shouldn't be asked, be a person Republican or Democrat."
The question is irrelevant -- the crime isn't. Then again, I can't tell you how many liberals I've met who say "Clinton was the best President ever 'cause he lied about all that shit and got away with it".
"Does this apply also to those in Hollywood who are Republicans who speak out in favour of Bush and the war? Incidently, so far Republicans have had an actor as President, an action star as a governor, that guy who's on "Law and Order" as a senator, and Sonny Bono as a congressman. Correct me if I'm wrong, but so far the Democrats have managed to get Cooter elected to a term or two in congress before being taken out by Newt. "
He was specifically talking about people criticizing those in Hollywood who talk about how Bush is evil, blah blah. Also, I've only seen a small handful of people from Hollywood that actually AREN'T liberal.
"Does, "mega dittos" ring any bells? "
Other than seeing people type it on xanga? Nope.
"How? By saying that the United States should live up to its international committments and act according to international laws and their own laws concerning prisoners? Slippery slope my young friend."
1) What comittment?
2) They aren't even allowed to yell at them, wake them up, or give them cold food in Gitmo to name a few of the bullshit rules
3) You're from Canada, so what you have to say on the issue doesn't mean shit
"Well I'll turn around and ask you how Bennett's comments helped? Rather, don't you think it might be more useful to come up with constructive solutions to the problems of crime?"
It's a practical soulution -- but one that will never be used. Just like how a practical way to take care of the war would be just to napalm the hell out of the middle east, but it'll never happen. Unfortunately what's practical is rarely allowed in life, regardless of the situation. As for a useful way to solve crime? How about getting liberals to stop telling criminals that it's ok to rape, steal, and murder -- and that liberals will fight to the death to defend their "right" to do whatever they want without consequences? There's the best place to start.......but like I said before -- what's practial rarely happens.
1) What comittment?
Geneva Conventions, Torture Conventions and so on... not to mention federal laws that do not allow torture (or holding people without representation, trial, hearings or anything)...
2) They aren't even allowed to yell at them, wake them up, or give them cold food in Gitmo to name a few of the bullshit rules
Please show where you have seen or heard that?
The question is irrelevant -- the crime isn't. Then again, I can't tell you how many liberals I've met who say "Clinton was the best President ever 'cause he lied about all that shit and got away with it".
Well at least we agree on the first point. Still, I can turn it around; many conservatives laud Ronald Regan as the greatest president and point to the Iran/Contra affair as an example of a man who was able to get things done despite the Democratic-controlled congress.... and of course the law.
He was specifically talking about people criticizing those in Hollywood who talk about how Bush is evil, blah blah. Also, I've only seen a small handful of people from Hollywood that actually AREN'T liberal.
Oh, I know this, but for every "liberal" who speaks out opposing Bush I could find a Hollywood conservative who has spoken out in support of Bush. What to try? Might be fun.
1) What comittment?
2) They aren't even allowed to yell at them, wake them up, or give them cold food in Gitmo to name a few of the bullshit rules
3) You're from Canada, so what you have to say on the issue doesn't mean shit
1. See Altshiftdelete
2. See Altshiftdelete
3. You see, that's a bit of a problem. You see, given that my country is next to yours, and the United States is the most powerful country on the planet, what your nation does domesically and internationally has a direct impact on us up here. That said, your attitude indicates one of the biggest problems I have with some Americans, left or right. Little knowledge of the world outside the United States. You don't think you should care what Canada or Canadians think? You might want to do a little investigation on who your largest trading partner is. Seems to me ya'll might be a bit concerned.
It's a practical soulution -- but one that will never be used. Just like how a practical way to take care of the war would be just to napalm the hell out of the middle east, but it'll never happen. A pratical solution... sort of like killing a bothersome fly with a stinger missle. I am somewhat concerned though in this part of your statement:
Unfortunately what's practical is rarely allowed in life, regardless of the situation.
What exactly are you trying to say here, given that this statement was juxtoposed with what you term as practical solutions such as aborting black babies and committing genocide in the Middle East?
You seem to have accepted the myth (and yes, it is a myth) that liberals are against personal responsibility. I teach personal responsibility to my students every single day and if they don't live up to their commitments as students, there are significant consequences. Likewise, if a person commits a crime, they need to be punished. What I'd like to see are politicians addressing the root causes of crime and prevent it before it can occur as much as humanly possible. Why be reactive when one can be proactive?
Ok, two things Malleus
1) "That said, your attitude indicates one of the biggest problems I have with some Americans, left or right. Little knowledge of the world outside the United States."
No, I've actually done a lot of traveling outside the country including multiple trips to Canada. My statement was in regards to the fact that since you don't live in the U.S. and actually see in every day life what's going on here, your opinion on American politics doesn't really mean much. I'm sure you'd say the same to me if I started takling about Canadian politics. I know my wording was poor and I shouldn't have put it that way, and I apologize for that. I have respect for Canadians, I just don't think that they have enough personal knowledge of America to be discussing how America should be run.
2) "You seem to have accepted the myth (and yes, it is a myth) that liberals are against personal responsibility. I teach personal responsibility to my students every single day and if they don't live up to their commitments as students, there are significant consequences. Likewise, if a person commits a crime, they need to be punished."
All I can so to that is that you're probably still going by the old definition of liberal in Canada. Here, things are different. Even people I know who voted for Kerry and Clinton no longer call themselves Democrats or liberals because they've seen how modern day liberals have virtually nothing in common with liberals of old. So, once again, my statement about 'liberals' was towards the American liberals and therefore most likely doesn't apply to liberals anywhere else in the world.
Uh oh. Boy talk.
Just kidding, guys. All very intersting.
Look. I can't spell.
Libs were making those claims for years about Delay. They'll go nuts because he was actually indicted. As for "The left feeding on hatred, anger and distrust" than they share the same motives of the politicans who felt it necessary to invade Iraq.
"As for "The left feeding on hatred, anger and distrust" than they share the same motives of the politicans who felt it necessary to invade Iraq."
Yup, damn those politicians who helped take the liberals beloved Saddam out of power....
Hi "Morrison"
Hang in there buddy. As you can see, the left wingers come out ready to do battle armed with their cliches, "exceptions" and
"they did it too, mom!" kid stuff when they are illuminated.
The current crop of Democratic liberals are the most hateful, anti-America group in history. Just listen to any Dem on TV - they're always strident, whining, complaining, bellyaching about what "W" is or isn't. Then listen to any Rep on TV - gentlemen, ladies, articulate, self-controlled. There is an obvious difference. The libs go nuts at the drop of a hat. Forget discussion - just get mad, protest and yell.
The Dems want to be known as the "progressive" party. That's exactly what the name of their party was before they had to change it from the "socialist" party before WWII.
What have they done for America? They have given us "PC" a most irrational way of living. They got that term from Trotsky and Marx who used to check on each's "political correctness".
They have been telling the poor and the blacks for generations that they should vote Dem so that they could "get stuff". After billions of dollars and almost as many programs they never helped anybody. Heck, they just discovered that there were poor people in New Orleans! Where were all of those Dems who have been in LA politics for decades?
"W" will show them how to help the poor. He's gonna get 'em educated, get 'em a job, get 'em a home, and help 'em to start a business. That's the true difference between Conservatives and libs - the way they handle the poor in the country.
The libs use an outdated method (hate the rich, etc. etc.) They can only promise to take stuff away from the rich and give it to them. And they are prepared to do that even though it undermines their own country's economic system.
On the other hand, the conservatives say, join the America you live in and participate as a productive citizen. Stay in school, get a job, live the American dream.
God bless this great country.
glad to see you join in boymarine... glad to see the contempt is still there and the overall avoidance of facts... but at least it is a constant opinion for you... remember liberals are evil and conservatives are the good guys... anything bad attributed to the conservatives is a massive liberal conspiracy and partisanship... and anything good by the liberals was due to conservative influence... must be nice to live in your world...
If that's you in the profile picture...then to paraphrase Malcolm X---Nigro, you left your MIND in Africa
All you Sambo-shuffling Massuh iz WE sick McNigroes who think yourselves a part of the Amerikkklan dream are in for a RUDE awakening. Herr Bush has shown his contempt with every NAACP meeting he's attended, with his cumpassionate cuntservatism as he watched your brethren drown in Louisiana. The "hate" is coming from the left???
That ol' radical whom most of you claim to be worshipping on Sundays once said to love thine enemies...to turn the other cheek, but as your president is now seeking counsel with Jack Daniels and y'all limbaughistically call for a war NONE OF YOU seem to be willing to fight...i sure as hell PRAY there's a hell, because there's gonna be a hell of a lot of you *christians* going there.
"glad to see the contempt is still there and the overall avoidance of facts..."
Avoidance of facts? It's called watching them give speeches on c-span, the news, reading a newspaper, etc. Everything Boymarine listed is drawn from everyday life in America.
"If that's you in the profile picture...then to paraphrase Malcolm X---Nigro, you left your MIND in Africa"
Ah yes, the liberal view that if you're black and not liberal then you're a sell out of mentally disabled.
"Herr Bush has shown his contempt with every NAACP meeting he's attended, with his cumpassionate cuntservatism as he watched your brethren drown in Louisiana. "
Actually from what I've heard Bush hasn't gone to any NAACP meetings (I'd resfuse to go to seeing as how they act) and there were plenty of white people that died in Katrina too numbnuts. Sorry to have to use an insult, but I can't control myself too well when liberals use the race card for anything and everything.
"Avoidance of facts? It's called watching them give speeches on c-span, the news, reading a newspaper, etc. Everything Boymarine listed is drawn from everyday life in America."
You can see similar things from both sides, that is my point... boymarine has continually rejected that notion... thus my comment...
Honestly, I guess this is random chance or maybe the Dem in congress just need to learn to shut up, but I've only seen like 2 Republicans ever give speeches on c-span -- it's always the Dems. Funny thing related to that......during the confirmation hearings for Roberts, Ed Kennedy went on for so long even all the other 17 senators were rolling their eyes and looking bored to hell.
Gee, other than my opinion that the left is a hateful, loud, irrational, whining, anti-American bunch of unpatriotic useful idiots, I thought that I WAS dealing in "facts".
I just love juxtapositioning the Socialist background of the Dems to the Patriotic, Constitution loving, traditional values and America defending Reps. Gosh, how the left hates being revealed.
I especially liked the difference in the way they each handle the poor. My mom always told me that when I stopped crying for everything I want, I'd learn self-reliance, not dependency.
My dad used to say "Study hard, stay in school, get a good job and raise a nice family". That's exactly why I can relate to the conservative way of running a family or a country.
"STOP GLOBAL WHINING!"
God bless America.
