Media believes conservatives are homophobes!

I was going to blog on this yesterday, but I decided yesterdays topic was a bit more important. This seems to be a complex issue, but its not. The New York Times is obviously doing whatever is in their power to find something against Roberts, but that’s expected. What shocked me was the LA times story yesterday. "Roberts Donated Help To Gay Rights Case". Let me help you understand this, let me explain what the liberal media’s objective here is. They are attempting to label Roberts as someone who cares about the rights of gays. They are attempting this because they believe the red states have some sort of hatred directed towards gays and if they see Roberts fighting for the rights of homosexuals, the support he has from the right will die slowly, but surely. Of course they will fail in their quest to drive a wedge between Roberts and conservative America. They don’t understand the right. They don’t understand that there is no hatred of gays anywhere in the conservative movement. They are helpless, this is the Supreme Court, this is the only place besides the media where they have power. They are going to fight this nomination, and they are going to fight dirty.

Liberals don't understand that there's a difference between physical rights and violating the RELIGIOUS institution of marriage. No real conservative will care that he wants equality for gays, as long as he doesn't let the law try to override religions (by making gay-marriage legal).
Perhaps if the right took better care to silence their wackos, people would be able to determine how deep the hatred really goes when it comes to gays.
As opposed to the dominance of wackos in the Democrats that are career politicians? Or what about the fact that regardless of what any conservative says, they'll always find some bullshit way to make them look anti-gay / anti-black / anti-whatever.
You're right: the Democrats would do well to silence their wackos as well.
The Roberts case in question proves your second assertion wrong: They're using his pro bono work to make him look as if he was pro-gay.
Morrison, everytime I come on your site (i'm srry it's rarely, don't have a lot of time) it's always interesting. You made a great analysis, and I totally agree with you. I don't know much about roberts, but I can see your point, and I agree with u.

They're pointing out Roberts' pro bono work in the gay rights case to try and make him look pro-gay, thereby making it look like the 'religious right' got screwed by Bush with this nomination, which in a way they/we did. As Coulter pointed out, we have a majority in congress and a republican in office, why would we need to have a stealth candidate? We could have gotten a Rodgers-Brown type in there, why go with Roberts if that's the case? And, even as a conservative, I disagree with the notion that there is no hatred toward gays anywhere in the conservative movement. There are a decent number of conservatives out there who make statements that are anti-gay, usually just rantings of a drunken redneck. This image has been used by the left to portray all of the right, even those of us who has serious, nonhateful disagreements with homosexuality.

Did I ever say there wasn't? As for the majority in congress, there are some who are pretty much liberals in conservative clothing (makes it easy to get elected) and wouldn't confirm a real conservative.
